Paxson
Building Project
- (Kit
Carson)
This project was completed thanks to the combined efforts
of KCRD, the Colorado Brownfields Foundation, CDPHE, OPS, and the EPA. Through
this partnership funds were received to run phase I and phase II assessments
of the site and also to remove underground fuel tanks at the site. A $200,000
EPA grant provided funds for the extensive asbestos abatement of the site.

| HUD Housing Project - $1 Million Grant |
In
2010 Kit Carson received a HUD Hope VI Main Street
Grant for $1 Million. Kit Carson Rural Developemnet
wrote and will be managing all aspect of this grant.
With grand funds KCRD purchased five home sites
in
Kit Carson. Through a generous donation of in-kind
labor those sites have been cleared and readied
for construction. The CU Denver Design & Build
program
donated their time and drew up plans for the five
homes. Models of these plans are located at the
Kit Carson State Bank. Construction is slated
to begin
in the fall of 2011. One of the five homes will
be donated to the Kit
Carson School for teacher housing. The remaining
four homes will all be 3 bedroom 2 bath detached
single family homes. Initial occupants must fall
under HUD's requirements for low income. These
levels can be viewed at their website -
under Cheyenne County, Colorado. |
